the Magical MIX from the golden generation of FC Barcelona
For any Barca fan, Messi, Iniesta
and Xavi are part of the folklore of Barcelona’s dream generation – the perennial
10, 8 and 6 of Barcelona respectively. The magical MIX of Messi, Iniesta and Xavi were
unique and went on to become legends in their own right. All the three players
were products of the famed La Masia and that made their achievements extra
special for FC Barcelona.
A young Xavi started his
career with the likes of Pep Guardiola at FC Barcelona and went on to become an
integral part of the team. Soon he was joined by the wonderfully talented Andres
Iniesta. Later came in the little Argentine Lionel Messi who completed the
golden triangle.
By then Pep Guardiola had taken over as the coach of Barca team. His strategies and tactics were perfectly executed by the willing Barcelona team who have since been regarded as the best ever club team of all times. It was an once in a lifetime team. It was just not about the trophies and wins. It was about how they played the game. Even Barcelona, today, cannot dream of assembling such a sublime set of players.
One of the main reasons for the phenomenal success of Pep's Barca was the talented trio who formed a lethal and unstoppable combination. They were the prime executors of Pep's strategies. Together they consistently produced unbelievable moments of wizardry.

They were very similar yet unique. Basically all of them were skillful midfielders who had the ability to score.
All three were slightly built and smaller than an average footballer. They relied
less on physical prowess and more on speed, skill and technique. It was funny
to watch the big defenders left bamboozled by the three little guys who would skip or glide past them like ghosts. No one could ever catch up with any
of them, when they took off.
The immaculate Xavi was all
about precision and control. He was primarily a central midfielder who operated from the deep. He was also a wonderful finisher. He was the vociferous leader who always stood up for his team mates.
The sublime Iniesta was agile, skillful and smooth. He was the attacking midfielder who created wonderful moves. He was the quiet guy who rarely spoke.
Messi was the little guy who had a undefined role. This unassuming kid would go absolutely crazy when he had the ball. No one could tell what would happen next, when he got the ball. He brought in an unpredictability and lethal edge to the team with his passing and finishing. He was the junior who willingly learnt from his two illustrious compatriots. He was their favourite teddy whom they appreciated and protected fiercely.
Soon it became a pattern - Xavi or Iniesta would be the creator of a move while Messi would be the finisher. But it was not a rigid pattern. Because of their immense abilities, they interchanged their roles and positions as per the situation. And that totally confused the opposition as they wouldn’t know whom to mark.

The most laudable thing about Xavi, Iniesta and Messi was that they admired each other and were selfless. They always put the team above their individual achievements. There was never a clash of egos or personalities between the three legends. They were perfect examples of the core values of FC Barcelona - Respect, Effort, Ambition, Teamwork and Humility.
Whenever there is a talk about one of them, the other two would pop up automatically in the debate. Their legacy is inseparable from each other. They completed each other. They won a number ot trophies for FC Barcelona in what could be considered as the golden period of Barca's great history.
Those who were fortunate enough to witness the three at their superlative best were truly blessed. It was sheer magic.
A spectacular rainbow comes
out when rain and light combines at the right moment of the day. Similarly Xavi
and Iniesta’s combined efforts enhanced the talented Messi into the best player
of his Generation. The genius of Messi rose higher, thanks to the best midfield
duo ever, who worked their charms from behind. With such a tactical and eminent
triplet leading them, FC Barcelona reached extraordinary heights and created history.
