Sergi Roberto - which position does he fit in

Sergi Roberto, a fantastic product of La Masia, will maka a wonderful mid fielder. But will he be as great as the legendary Iniesta or Xavi?- only time will tell. I actually want him to build his own identity among the greats.

He is someone who has always strived hard and adapted very well in any position that he was offered in the team. Thats one of his biggest strengths. What Sergi lacks in physicality, he makes up with his skill and pace. He also anticipates extremely well. Remember that incredible stretch in the last second to score the winning goal against PSG in UCL and that unforgettable darting run from his D almost to the opposition’s goal ,leaving Marcelo in a daze, in the final minutes of the last Clasico of 2016-17, which resulted in a stunning win - They are classic examples of his anticipation and vision.

I really wish he gets his dues at Barcelona because he is talented, hard working and very dedicated. Hopefully Sergi Roberto is lucky enough to be utilized as a proper mid fielder soon, otherwise it will be Barca’s loss and some other club’s gain.

Barca is scouting outside the La Masia for talents. But I definitely feel that their best bets are the young players nurtured in La Masia - Sergi is a wonderful example.

I am truly glad and relieved that he has extended his contract with FC Barcelona till 2022. He is an asset that Barca cannot afford to lose.
