Barcelona vs Deportivo -  Dec 17, 2017 - Match Review
It
was a classic, dominant performance from Barcelona despite missing a
dozen chances - most of them amazingly hitting the woodwork. This was an
expected result as Deportivo stand 17th in the league table and are
struggling.
Everyone did their jobs well,
especially Aleix Vidal, Luis Suarez, Sergi Roberto, Pique Vermaelen,
Rakitic, Jordi Alba and Paulinho. Ter Stegen was not tested much. It was
a relatively quiet match for the German. The standouts were Iniesta
& Messi who orchestrated the game like a dream.
All
the goals where beautifully worked out and easy tap ins, for both
Suarez and Pualinho. Sad that Suarez had his legitimate Rabona kick goal
ruled out, despite the replays showing that it had crossed the line.
It’s time LaLiga employed the Goal Line Technology before they bring in
the more elaborate VAR.
The best moment of
the match was when Iniesta spotted the perfectly timed run of Messi
among a mass of Barca players and provided a sensational pass which Leo
controlled with his chest beautifully and then passed it on to the
hovering Suarez who found the net with his usual precision. The way
Iniesta and Messi connected - it was telepathy at its best between two
of the most gifted footballers of all times.
How
could Messi miss so many chances including a penalty is still baffling!
It was positively not his day when it came scoring goals. But the
little guy was dazzling in the field carving chance after chance which
resulted in the goals.
The only bad news was the muscle injury to Paco Alcacer who will be out for 3 weeks.
Overall a satisfying performance by F C Barcelona.
